Canada's position on Iran.

Canada's position on the U.S.-Israel unprovoked war of aggression on Iran should be public denunciation of U.S.-Israeli aggression and demands that the U.S. cease all military operations in West Asia, withdraw its military from the region, lift all economic sanctions on Iran, and end all weapons shipments to Israel.

Iranians chant "Death to America" because the U.S. overthrew their democratically elected prime minister, Mohammad Mosaddegh, on August 19, 1953, and installed a murdering, torturing dictator, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, whom the Islamic Revolution finally dislodged 26 years later, driving him out of Iran on January 16, 1979.

Following these events, the U.S. provided Saddam Hussein with weapons and other support, including chemical weapons, using which he waged an 8-year war of aggression on Iran from September 22, 1980, to August 20, 1988, in which 1 million Iranians died.

In addition, the U.S. imposed economic sanctions on Iran in November, 1979, which it has continued with varying degrees of savagery to this day.

Canada should champion Iranian sovereignty, stop participating in U.S. efforts to impose the son of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi as Iran's unelected Juan Guaido, immediately and permanently withdraw from all involvement in military activities in the Persian Gulf, and support the peaceful development of Iran's economy.
