The universe is ours!

The white-supremacist western European, then U.S., imperial oligarchy has held all of the economic and military cards for 500 years. Realities have never mattered to them, therefore, and any lie has always sufficed because the outcome has always been the same: more for themselves, less for everybody else.

Over a period of 500 years, an attitude has evolved within the oligarchy that involves no reference to what actually exists because the circumstances they have constructed for themselves by definition always favor the oligarchs. This nonchalance is evident when a George W. Bush, or Obama, or any of the U.S. presidents, declares that "America will prevail" against some irresolvable domestic, international, or environmental contradiction because "we are Americans!"

They really believe this stuff. No plan, no accommodation to reality, no change to the status quo, no cost to the owners of planet Earth is/was ever required because the class that is skating on the vicissitudes of history has cornered all the power, and things always work out in their own favor no matter who or what has to die or be destroyed for this to happen.

This is the psychology of empire: impunity, invincibility, inevitability. It is irrational. "We are Americans!" We always win. It just happens. Not-winning does not occur for us because this universe is ours.

This is why empires die. Ruling classes are lazy, taking gluttons. They tell any lie, shape any narrative in the minds of people captured by their media, whether those media are holy books, temples, paintings, marketing or PR slogans. For an empire, reality is not a substantial, existential thing. It is illusions and carefully cultivated beliefs for the public to carry within its collective mentality.

Outcomes are always favorable for a nation that is indispensable and exceptional. They just are. That is what being indispensable and exceptional means. "We always win no matter what we do."

"We lead. And to lead is to keep our fantasies and faith in them alive in the minds of our cannon fodder and financial prey because the universe is ours!"

Eventually reality comes knocking.
