I am finished writing to the NY Times.

I got excited about a couple of things and wrote them with the intention of planting subversive seeds in their brains.

I guess I believed they would immediately sprout full-blown and I would wake up to a thoroughly new, honest NY Times.

No such luck, but I hit them so aggressively and unapologetically I can't help believing they ran a few articles for my benefit in response – they have my IP address, after all – but who knows.

The first sign I took as acknowledgement of my yelling into their doorway was an article I have no recollection of besides that it mentioned words in it like bomb-throwing, untutored, lightweight, crank.

That's me.

Then David Brooks wrote a factual piece with a satirical tone called "How to Make a Lot of Money!"

My point to them being we are all complicit in the cruelty of money and they know but do not want to know, who knows?

In one of my letters, I used the expression "living Earth." Today they ran a long article analyzing numerous ways to decide what is and is not alive. It was all couched in characteristics viruses share and do not share with things that are generally agreed to be alive, so in all likelihood I did not have anything to do with it; but the Earth is obviously absent from the list, so again, who knows? (That one is a stretch. Particularly clever if a gift for me.)

They pretty much flicked my letter complaining about commoditizing housing off their cardigan, if indeed that is what they did, with an article that repeated at least four times that rents have been decreasing for various reasons having to do with covid. I hope the people sleeping in tents in the park at the corner of my block have noticed.

Now that the orange sociopath and his coterie of loathsome idiots are out of the White House for a month, the U.S. is dropping bombs again.
